Ross Cantrell Music

Ross Cantrell Bio

Ross Cantrell is a Saxophonist, Clarinetist and Composer, graduate of BA Music at Bath Spa University.

Originally from Southampton, Ross began learning the Clarinet at the age of 7  through classical music lessons. However being brought up listening to Soul and Jazz music, Ross had more of a passion for this music than Classical music. This then influenced him to want to play the Saxophone and at the age of 14 he started learning the Tenor Saxophone, allowing him to join the Mountbatten school Jazz and Big Bands which he then went on to play with at the Swanage and Montreux Jazz festivals in 2016. 

In late 2016 Ross joined a Soul and Funk band 'Ruby', playing at venues like restaurants and pubs, weddings and events. In 2017 he was lucky enough to be able to play at the Ronnie Scotts Jazz club in London with the Big band in a day event, as well as playing at the Concord Jazz Club in Southampton with the band 'Ruby'. 

Ross now studies BA Music at Bath Spa University Majoring in the Jazz. Starting university he fell in love with composing music, writing Jazz and Pop songs in his spare time. Ross also set up a Jazz trio later becoming a quartet called' The Revival Trio +1' playing at restaurants, pubs and at jam sessions around Bath.
